It's back, and this time it's for real.

The always popular Great State of Maine Air Show will return to the state in late summer of 2024. According to the show's website, the event will be held August 3-4 at the Brunswick Executive Airport (formally Brunswick Naval Air State).

While it's still too early for many of the details, there is one group already confirmed, and it's a big one. According to the site, the famed U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are scheduled to appear.

The Air Force Thunderbirds are one of the most famous aerobatic squads in the world. The specially trained United States Air Force pilots fly F-16 fighters in death defying stunts that leave any spectator in awe. These pilots are the best of the best and will show Mainers why next year.

This is an extremely exciting development for the Great State of Maine Air Show, an event that the state hasn't seen since 2021.

However, this doesn't mean the show wasn't in the news. Many folks may remember a very odd and incorrect social media post back in 2022 that actually announced the air show would be returning Labor Day weekend of that year. The post even claimed the Navy's Blue Angels would be in attendance. But it ended up being just another internet hoax.

This time around it's legit, especially considering the first news comes directly from the official website, not some random Facebook page. And thank goodness for that, because this has always been one of the premier events in the state. I even remember going as a kid and always being in awe of the amazing aircraft and aerobatic flying.

I would expect more info to come soon, so make sure to follow the Great State of Maine's website for updates as we get closer to the dates.

And remember, you can be my wingman anytime.
