Here’s Where the Trout Are Biting RIght Now on the Kennebec
Great news from our friends this week at the Maine Department of Inland, Fishery and Wildlife:
We are receiving some favorable reports from anglers in the Shawmut section of the Kennebec River. Reports are coming in that the size, number and the quality of the brown trout caught there are all on the rise. There are even more than a few mentions of three pound-plus brown trout landed and released.
Take a look at some of the photos submitted by some anglers who fished there recently.
Reports from this spring and early summer show a much improved fishery from a couple of years ago, and while not yet on par with brown trout fishing experienced in the mid- and late 90s, the brown trout fishing is on the upswing and headed in the right direction.
