Iconic Bobby Flay “Throwdown” Winning Rockland Restaurant Closing
According to a report in the Village Soup, the Brass Compass Cafe is closing its doors forever on November 1.
The owner of the Brass Compass, Lynn Archer, already has a buyer for the property and will now be focusing mainly on her other restaurant in Rockland, Archer’s on the Pier. The good news is she will be expanding her offerings at Archer's on the Pier and will be offering breakfast there for the first time. She says she will be bringing some recipes over from the Brass Compass Cafe and will feature some of the breakfast dishes many locals have grown to love, mine being the Penobscot Benedict. I, for one, am grateful for that dish as the ham is replaced with a crab cake and it tastes amazing.
Word is that anyone currently employed at the Brass Compass will have a position at Archer’s on the Pier. This certainly comes as welcome news for those employees. With this change, an added bonus will be the option of eating your breakfast with a lovely view of Rockland’s Harbor.
There is no mention of who the buyer is for the cafe but it will be interesting to see what will replace this iconic restaurant who's popularity has skyrocketed since she beat Food Network Star, and Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay in a "throw down" with her Lobster Club Sandwich. The location is prime real estate on Main Street, which is vibrant and welcoming. One thing is for sure, the cafe will be missed by many.
