The music world as a whole reacted in horror at the events that took place at the Route 91 Harvest Festival earlier this week in Las Vegas as a gunman opened fire on the crowd at the outdoor event from a hotel room above the festival. With the city of Las Vegas still in shock and the music community on heightened security alert, we've already seen a few shows canceled or postponed. You can now add Incubus to the list of acts reconsidering their shows this week.

The band has announced that they are postponing their five-night limited engagement at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas that was due to start Saturday night (Oct. 7), and also included shows on Sunday (Oct. 8), Wednesday (Oct. 11), next Friday (Oct. 13) and next Saturday (Oct. 14).

The band cited the tragic shooting in Las Vegas in the statement that was revealed to the media and announced their intent to reschedule the dates. Stay tuned for an announcement on the rescheduled dates.

"Incubus, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, AEG Presents and X107.5 express their deepest thoughts and sympathies with the victims, their families, the first responders and the Las Vegas community," the statement read, with the added instructions, "Current ticketholders may redeem their original tickets for any of the rescheduled dates, which will be announced soon. Refunds are also available upon request. Either request should be made directly to the original point of purchase. Tickets purchased with cash from the Hard Rock Hotel box office will need to be returned to either be exchanged or refunded. Please note that Incubus, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, AEG Presents and AXS are not responsible for hotel, travel or other expenses related to the postponement of these performances and apologize for any inconvenience caused."

In the wake of the shooting, it's understandable for acts to air on the side of caution and Incubus are doing so here. The band does however still have a show scheduled for Santa Barbara this evening and their other date currently on the schedule -- an appearance at the Northside Festival in Monterrey, Mexico -- is still on the itinerary. Incubus are currently promoting their most recent album 8, which has already yielded the stellar single "Nimble Bastard" as well as the more melodic and dreamy song "State of the Art" and the flowing rocker "Glitterbomb."
