What is Date Night @ The Movies?

A few decades ago, going to the movies was the perfect date night for millions of Americans.

That's not the case anymore.

These days, thanks to streaming and unlimited data packages, most of us enjoy our movies at home (or in the car, at the gym, or while hiding in the bathroom at work), but there really is something special about watching a movie on the big screen.

Even though I love seeing movies on the big screen, I rarely go to the theater.

There are a couple reasons for this.  The biggest one is that I am not really able to watch a movie in one sitting.  I have the attention span of a goldfish.  On top of that, I am cheap and don't really want to pay what they are charging for tickets this days.

Typically, we only go to the movies on special occasions now.  For example, my daughter wanted to see the new (as of last year) Super Mario Brothers movie as her birthday party.  Or, when the kids were good, I took them to Thunderbolts (or, New Avengers).

Based on the conversations I have had with other people, I am not the only one doing this.

Now, the movie industry is looking for ways to get people back into theaters.

What is Date Night @ The Movies?

According to an article on the Variety website, the idea is to encourage people to take their special someone out for a date night at their local theater.

On Friday, August 22nd, thousands of theaters across the country will offer 2-for-1 deals on concessions.

Which New England Theaters Will Be Participating in Date Night @ The Movies?

So far, we have not been able to find a list of participating theaters or specific deal.

However, because it is a nationwide promotion, we can imagine that many theaters in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut will be participating.
