Augusta Police Introduce New Series to Help Residents Meet the People Behind the Badge

The Augusta Police Department has launched a new social media series aimed at helping residents get to know the people behind the badge.

According to the department, a different member of the Augusta Police Department will be featured every other Monday. Each post will offer a few personal and professional details about the officers and employees who serve the city.

The first person featured in the new series is Officer Harris Wilner.

Wilner has been a police officer for two years, but his public safety background started before he entered law enforcement. Prior to becoming an officer, he worked as a technician in an emergency room and also previously served as a firefighter.

These days, Wilner works the night shift, which he jokingly describes as “the best shift.”

When asked what he enjoys most about being a police officer, Wilner said he likes using problem-solving skills to handle complex incidents and cases.

Away from work, Wilner says he enjoys spending time with his golden retriever.

The department’s introductory post also revealed a few of Wilner’s favorites. His favorite movie is “The Other Guys,” Chinese food is his weakness, and when it comes to sports, he admits that he is, “unfortunately,” a New York Yankees fan.

The Augusta Police Department says the new employee spotlight series is designed to give the community a better look at the men and women who serve Augusta.

New profiles are expected to be posted every other Monday.
