Maine Ranks Top 10 in Nationwide Privacy Searches
How much do you search online for way to keep your privacy protected?
Raise your hand if you’ve ever Googled, “how to keep people from seeing inside my home” or “smart home privacy tips,” if you’ve searched something similar to this, you are certainly not alone. It’s something we all think about and want to plan for, especially here in Maine.
These days, it feels like everyone is just trying to stay safe and protect there homes and families.
The rising concerns we have in crime, hacking, and just the need to feel comfortable in our own homes is pushing us to search for ways to better protect what’s ours.
It’s no surprise that so many of us are trying to be more cautious and thinking more about how exposed we truly are due to social media and technology.
Trying to Feel Safe at Home in a Digital World
Especially here in Maine, where home is meant to feel like a refuge, because our peace of mind matters.
A new study by Bringnox Blinds, via Susanah Lomocso is showing that Maine ranks 10th in privacy-related searches. The study shows 11.02 searches per 1,000 users and this study compared search behavior with crime date across all 50 states.
They found some surprising patterns with Montana leading the nation in search volume, while Wyoming ranks highest on the Privacy Anxiety Index.
This basically means the states where people are most concerned about their privacy.
Maine may not be #1, but clearly, we’re most definitely paying attention to how important this is. The founder of Bringnox Blinds, Martin Wong says, this is more than just paranoia.
"FBI data reveals that in the past five years, residential burglaries were on the rise during the day than at night. The myth that burglars only strike under the cover of darkness is dangerously outdated, and homeowners face a 24/7 vulnerability, which explains why privacy anxiety is reaching unprecedented levels."
Further more, they found that the top states in search volume don’t have to always have the highest anxiety scores, it’s about taking action and doing something, not just googling.
Martin Wong goes onto say,
"These privacy-anxious states understand that privacy is the first line of defense. When your biggest security threat could be someone from your own neighborhood who's familiar with your routines, creating visual barriers and unpredictable privacy patterns through automation becomes essential."
