Best Fried Clams in the World
According to TasteAtlas, the top two places to get fried clams are in Essex, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the yummy seafood meal. Doesn't seem like too much of a surprise, right?
Massachusetts dominates much of the travel guide's list, but Maine does manage to get three spots on there.
That includes landing a solid third place with the ever-popular Kittery, Maine, location: Bob's Clam Hut.
Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, Maine, Has Some of the Best Fried Clams in the World
According to its website, Bob's Clam Hut has been "serving up the best that coastal Maine fried seafood has to offer since 1956."
As for the fried clams? You can get them two different ways: Bob's style or Lillian's style.
Both are amazing, but Bob's style is lightly dredged in the house blend flour and fried, while Lillian's style is egg & milk washed and dredged in the flour blend and fried.
Guy Fieri even filmed an episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" at Bob's Clam Hut in 2010, where he got to taste both styles and provide his seal of approval.
So what do you think? Have you been to Bob's Clam Hut? Where's your favorite fried clam place in Maine?
