Mainers Share Pictures of Their Favorite Christmas Tree Ornaments
You know you have a favorite one.
I think one of the reasons adults love Christmas so much is that for those with young kids, it's so special. But as you get older and your kids grow up, Christmas is that time to reflect and get cozy in a big dose of nostalgia.
As we were decorating the tree, I always looked for Gus Gus. All was well when I found this little guy. I love that this ornament came from a Happy Meal I had at McDonald's over 30 years ago. I don't know why I love Gus Gus, but I do.
(Yup. That's Jaq, not Gus. For over 30 years I have been calling him Gus Gus, but it's Jaq Jaq. It's going to be a hard habit to break, but I'll manage.)
Anyway, when I found Gus Gus Jaq, I thought "I bet other people have special ornaments too!" As it turns out, a lot of people had Gus Gus Jaq too! And they had other awesome ornaments from Happy Meals so long ago.
Mainers have so many silly or special memories attached to ornaments, and all make them smile. There are also many ornaments to honor those who have passed. It's a way the ones you love (whether furry family or relatives) can still be with you on Christmas.
If you look at your tree right now, do you have an ornament that means the most to you? I bet it makes you smile every time you see it.
