New Hampshire Scenic Roads

There are some truly amazing roads to drive throughout New Hampshire, and there's something for everyone depending on your mood.

Looking for a picturesque mountainous view? Drive up Interstate 93 through Franconia Notch and you're instantly cruising between the White Mountains, and even able to peek out to see where the Old Man of the Mountain cast its glare over part of the state.

Looking for more a coastal or lake view? You can drive along Lake Winnipesaukee or the coastline between Rye and Hampton, New Hampshire, and breathe in the salt air while watching the waves crash.

That said, for as many amazing views as there are while driving through the Granite State, there are also some creepy, and even downright dangerous ones.

And one of those roads is a very appropriately named street located on the outskirts of downtown Derry, New Hampshire.

Cemetery Road in Derry, New Hampshire

Just off of East Derry Road and directly across from East Derry Tire & Auto in the town of -- you guessed it, Derry -- begins a street that can be a roll of the dice to navigate more often than not.

Cemetery Road isn't just appropriately named for the fact that Forest Hill Cemetery is located along its stretch of pavement, but also because, quite bluntly, like a cemetery, the road itself reeks of imminent death.

Driving on Cemetery Road at night could be considered equivalent to driving through a Black Hole, or how astronauts must feel after leaving the earth's atmosphere, because other than the glow of a driver's headlights, there is nothing but eerie, pitch black darkness around every twist and turn of the either dimly or fully unlit road.

So, driver beware, use extra caution if you're ever on this road -- especially at night -- to avoid it being your unintended final destination.
