New Report Says Maine Is One of the Best States in the Country for Women

Ah yes, the wonderful state of Maine, a place known for its beauty, delicious food, rocky coast, friendly locals, and great radio stations.

But it’s also known for its inclusivity, and a recent report is highlighting that very fact.

WalletHub.com, a personal finance website, recently published a report on the best states for women. Unsurprisingly, Maine scored very high on the list.

How Good of a State is Maine for Women's Well-being?

In fact, the Pine Tree State ranked 3rd in the report. That's quite an achievement. It's great to see Maine recognized as one of the most welcoming states in the country

Maine’s actual score was 70.84, based on a 100-point system. Two major categories were evaluated: Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being and Women’s Healthcare & Safety. These categories were broken down into 25 subcategories, making the analysis as detailed as possible. You can read more about the methodology here.

Maine scored well in both categories, including a 12th-place finish in women's healthcare and safety. However, the state really shined in women’s economic & social well-being, where Maine had the best ranking in the country, an outstanding achievement.

These rankings are wonderful to see, especially for a state that prides itself on inclusivity, education, and safety. Mainers should feel proud of the incredible work and the positive gender climate in Maine. It’s just another reason why this state is such a wonderful place to live.

What is the Best State for Women?

According to WalletHub, the best state for women can also be found in New England: Massachusetts. Vermont (6th) and Connecticut (7th) also finished in the Top 10, showing once again how wonderful it is to live in this region.

As for the lowest ranking, it went to the fine state of Louisiana. While not a great look for the Bayou State, at least there’s exceptional food there.
