This Portland, Maine, Restaurant Has One of the Best Burritos in the Nation
A burrito might just be the ultimate comfort food.
I mean, what’s not to love? You’ve got a warm, soft tortilla packed with cheese, veggies, rice, beans, and your choice of protein—beef, chicken, whatever you’re in the mood for. Then you pile on salsa, hot sauce, guacamole, and sour cream to take it over the top. It’s basically the perfect meal for any situation—honestly, there’s even a whole world built around breakfast burritos.
Now that we’re all craving burritos, it’s probably a good time to figure out who has the best one in Maine. One national website says it’s a Mexican restaurant right in the heart of Portland’s Arts District that stands above the rest.
Where is the Best Burrito in Maine?
The popular website LoveFood recently named the popular restaurant Taco Escobarr as the place to grab your next burrito. The local joint has been a fixture in Portland for a decade with its tasty tacos, large margaritas, fun ambiance, and absolutely mega burritos.
This burrito is anything but standard. To start, you can choose from 10 different proteins, including steak, chicken, chorizo, fish, and even shrimp. Then the real fun begins, with rice, beans, queso fresco, red cabbage, pico de gallo, and a little crema. You can also add guacamole (yes, please) or even smother it with cheese and other toppings—kind of like what you’d do with hash browns at Waffle House. This thing is an absolute tank and definitely not for the faint of heart.
Now comes the best part: devouring it. This behemoth hits all the right notes, and who knows—it might even turn into two meals.
What Makes Taco Escobarr's Burrito Maine's Best?
Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s a bit of what LoveFood had to say about Taco Escobarr’s burrito:
Go for a smothered burrito and choose from 10 tasty fillings including vegan-friendly ancho chili butternut squash or grilled jalapeño and lime shrimp, both of which come highly recommended...Customers love dining in but say the burritos travel well, too.
Okay, now we’ll all be dreaming about smothered burritos tonight—and that’s not such a bad thing. Also, I’m not sure why I keep writing these on an empty stomach. It’s just painful.
This is great publicity for a Maine small business that continues to thrive—and a place that’s definitely in my regular Portland rotation.
