Walmart Plans Major Renovation For Two Stores in Maine
Walmart is peering into the future and that means some major changes.
Walmart has been a retail leader in America for decades but the big box chain fully understands that in order to remain at the top, it has to adjust what it can offer customers to continue to be at the top of their mind.
According to USA Today, that means Walmart is planning a massive overhaul of more than 650 stores across the nation. Two of those remodeled stores will be right here in Maine.
Walmart Plans to Remodel Their Falmouth, Maine, and Thomaston, Maine, Locations
Walmart is heralding their ambitious remodeling efforts as their "stores of the future". Walmart has rolled out plans to remodel and reimagine 650 stores across 47 states in the United States. The two Walmart locations in Maine that expect some significant changes are in Falmouth and Thomaston.
The "stores of the future" will feel different than a traditional Walmart. There will be more digital interaction, a full pharmacy overhaul to make Walmart a healthcare destination with enhanced privacy and some other additional improvements including bolder signage that will be very obvious.
Other Major Changes That People Will See at the Remodeled Walmart Locations in Maine
As more people enjoy the convenience of online shopping, Walmart's "stores of the future" will lean into that more. Both the Falmouth and Thomaston stores will have enhanced delivery capabilities as well as online pickup.
Walmart also plans to rework self-checkout lanes to make them more efficient while curbing any potential theft. Bargain shoppers will also enjoy new "seasonal shops" that will be pop-ups inside Walmart with inexpensive offerings.
There is no timeline on how quickly the two Walmart stores in Maine will be fully remodeled.
