This New England Pet Rescue Gives Older Dogs a Loving Sanctuary
If you believe every dog deserves love, especially in their final years, then Vintage Pet Rescue is the kind of place that restores your faith in humanity.
Based in Rhode Island, this nonprofit is dedicated to protecting and advocating for senior and special needs dogs who might otherwise be overlooked.
Their mission is simple but powerful: give older dogs a second chance at comfort, dignity, and love.
Through their cage-free sanctuary, these “vintage” pets aren’t just housed, they’re truly at home. Soft beds, human affection, and attentive medical care replace the cold, uncertain environments many of them came from.
Founded by Kristen Peralta and Marc Peralta, the organization was built on a shared passion for senior dogs. Since 2013, that passion has grown into a life-saving mission that has helped more than 1,300 dogs live out their final months (or even years) surrounded by compassion, according to its website.
As someone who is completely obsessed with animals, this mission hits especially close to home for me.
My own dogs mean everything to me (and I mean everything!). They're not just pets, they're family. So seeing an organization pour this much love into dogs who are so often forgotten is incredibly moving.

Vintage Pet Rescue doesn’t just save dogs, it changes the way we think about aging pets. And that’s something truly worth celebrating.
