Did New England A-Lister John Cena Handle This Fan Interaction Wrong?

Celebrities, especially A-listers, may have all the glory, fame, and money, but it comes at a price.

Where some regular nobody can walk down the street, sit down to dinner, meet up with friends, or even go to the bathroom without having to worry about getting harassed or interrupted -- well-known celebrities don't have that freedom.

And the proof is in the latest video of John Cena that has gone viral in the last 24 hours.

In a recent viral video making the rounds on TikTok and Instagram (and posted by the user alex99rocks), John is seen sitting down at a table at what looks like an open-air restaurant with another person sitting across from him.

In the video, the man behind the camera -- although it's tough to tell exactly what he's saying since the video seems to start mid-conversation -- seemingly asks John to do his infamous "You Can't See Me" gesture from his WWE days that's been adapted by other professional athletes like NFL and NBA players.

Understandable from a big Cena fan. Unfortunately for the fan, it was horrible timing.

And it makes total sense -- considering Cena is constantly either filming a movie, filming a show, granting another Make-A-Wish, traveling, or doing promotion for something, it's probably rare that he gets a chance to catch up with friends.

But regardless, it's still dividing people who have seen the video into two sections -- the half that thinks he (and the man behind the camera, to his credit) handled it great, and the half that thinks he came off like a jerk.

The argument of the half that thinks he was rude is the same argument you hear anyone that disagrees make:

They would be nothing without fans, how dare they deny them like that!

But also, how would you like to try to sit down for a bite and drink with a friend and be interrupted by some random person asking you to wave your hand in front of your face like a trained circus animal on camera?

There's a time and a place, and this wasn't it.

And again, props to the person behind the camera who apologized and understood. And also props to John for not going in on the person and understanding that, at the end of the day, it truly was a fan that simply made a mistake.
