Something new to Maine is on its way to South Portland.

KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot is planning to expand into Maine for the very first time. Like many other nationwide chains, their initial spot will be located right next to the Maine Mall at 415 Philbrook Road.

What is KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot Exactly?

It's a restaurant that combines a pair of classic Asian food preparations. On one side, you have Korean BBQ, a chance to cook meats and veggies on your own tabletop grill at your table inside the restaurant.

Hot Pot is a fast-growing sensation in America where patrons begin their meal with a simmering pot of broth and add meat, noodles and veggies to it as they create their own masterpiece.

KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot Will Replace Macaroni Grill Near the Maine Mall

For a couple of years, the old Macaroni Grill location near the Maine Mall has been empty with a 'for lease' sign out front. The sign has been taken down and according to a Google Business listing, it will be the new home to KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot.

The website for KPot suggests it is moving into the Portland-area but giving an office building as the future address. That seems incorrect.

KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot already operate more than 100 locations across the country. Their expansion into New England over the next year will be aggressive.

Beyond the new South Portland restaurant, KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot will open an additional 5 new locations throughout New England.
