Maine State Park Named Among 7 Best in the Nation
Even if you're a lifelong Maine resident, there are likely many points within the state that you've never traveled to. But as winter winds down and the hope of spring arrives, perhaps it's time to make plans to explore a portion of the state that you've never been visited.
According to Business Insider, Maine is home to one of 7 best state parks in the entire nation. The country is home to more than 6,000 state parks throughout 50 states. So while all the tourists flood Acadia National Park, time for a detour to the beauty of one of the best state parks you'll find anywhere.
Business Insider Says Quoddy State Park is Among the Very Best
Known as being the home to the easternmost point in the contiguous U.S., Quoddy Head State Park already has some built-in popularity thanks to being the first place you can watch the sunrise each day.
But Business Insider says that Quoddy Head offers far more than just that one bragging right. The trails throughout the state park offer remarkable beauty. Because the population of the area is limited, there is an incredible amount of wildlife to be observed from birds to whales and beyond.
There's Also One of Maine's Most Signature Lighthouses to Enjoy
Celebrities have traversed Maine just to see the sunrise and snap a photo alongside of the most iconic lighthouses in all of the state, West Quoddy Head Light.
The candy cane painted lighthouse is a signature of the area and has become a photo destination for travelers willing to make the trip to the easternmost point in the U.S.
