The Brunswick Marine Resources & Harbor Management facebook page posted this amazing video of hundreds of horseshoe crabs making landfall here in Maine. Every year, thousands of the crabs (which are actually amazing pre-historic animals) come to the beaches in Maine to breed and spawn.

The Harbor Management department asks that if you see these animals on the beach over the next several days and weeks, to leave them alone so they can take part in their mating process.

According to biologists, because horseshoe crabs originated a whopping 450 million years ago, they are considered living fossils. Very cool!
