Maine Fisherman Donate 600lb Catch To Belfast Soup Kitchen
When most people think of Maine, they think of snow, lobster, blueberries, snow, pine trees, snow, lobster, snow, fall foliage, and more snow and lobster. It seems like Maine is mainly known for its harsh winter and lobstering industry, but another thing people often mention is just how kind Mainers are.
This story brings us to the coastal town of Belfast, Maine, where a crew of fishermen added more value to this small town than anyone ever imagined.
According to WABI TV 5, a crew of fishermen on the FV Kathryn Ann set out last week looking for their next batch of lobster bait, only to be shocked at what they would haul in that day. The crew didn't catch bait, but they did grab a massive Tuna weighing 600lbs.
Unfortunately, the crew knew the last and that this Tuna wasn't something they could keep. However, the crew also knew that the fish wouldn't make it and would likely go to waste if they didn't act fast. After making a few calls, the Tuna, estimated at $10,000 market value, was donated to the local food pantry, the Belfast Soup Kitchen.
It sure is nice to see locals step up and be the heroes that this world so badly needs.
