Maine Will See an End of Summer Heat Wave Next Week

There are already plenty of signs that fall is arriving in New England. Many of the trees have leaves that are changing color. The sun is already beginning to set before 7pm. Spirit Halloween has opened a bunch of stores all across Maine.

One of the other telltale signs is when the evenings in Maine begin to cool down. The humidity that dogged the state for much of the summer has seemingly faded away. But as always, Mother Nature is ready to remind us all that she makes the rules and we have to play by them.

MONDAY

According to Keith Carson, Maine and all of New England won't just see a random day of heat to say goodbye to summer. Next week is likely to bring a full blown heat wave, with at least three consecutive days of temperatures reaching as high as the mid 80's.

TUESDAY

The pesky humidity is going to be along for the ride as well. As Carson notes, if you removed your air conditioner already expecting the fall to roll into the state unquestioned, you'll regret it for the majority of next week. Even the overnight lows won't be that low, with many places never dropping below 60 degrees.

WEDNESDAY

The forecast currently calls for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to bring the likely last hurrah of summer to Maine's doorstep. It's possible that the warm front slows down and leaves Thursday just as hot and humid.

According to Weather Spark, the end of summer heat wave is an anomaly. Typically, Maine daily highs in September sit between 63 and 67 degrees.
