After a long winter, it may be easy to forget that last summer was one of the hottest summers on record in United States history. The nationwide average temperature last was nearly 74 degrees.
The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting much of the same heat-wise for this summer. All across the country, there will be periods of intense heat. That average 74 degree day is likely to be the norm throughout July and August in Maine with a portion of September feeling the heat too.
Maine Will Be the Only State in New England to Get Poured On
The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that only a handful of states around the country will experience both a hot and rainy summer. Most of those states exist in the central portion of the country. The lone exception? Maine.
Maine is the only state in New England to see above-average rainfall throughout the summer. Every other state in the region is expected to see drier conditions with their heat. Let's hope that the rain falls during the weekdays and leaves the weekends sunny and hot so everyone can have fun.
