Paper Tiger in Portland, Maine, Permanently Closing
If you've visited Portland over the last decade, you know the winds of change never stop within the city.
Recently. there was a flood of closings that sparked worry the city may lose its culinary standing. Instead, a flood of openings once again established that the Portland, Maine, culinary scene isn't going anywhere.
But as the city and state approaches the fall, there's likely to be another series of closings as restaurants and shops look at their bottom line and a looming winter season.
The first domino to fall appears to be Paper Tiger in Portland. Paper Tiger had declared itself as the 'fanciest' bar in America, probably.
After it opened in 2022, the restaurant at 425 Fore Street had become known for its creative cocktails as well as a couple different signature small plate dishes.
But an announcement on social media says that Paper Tiger is closing up shop permanently.
The owners behind Paper Tiger decided not to share the full extent of why the bar is closing. Instead, they simply penned that the last 3 years were filled with fun and a whole lot of weird and they're thankful for it.
Paper Tiger will close their doors for good on Monday, September 1.
