Fundraiser for Brunswick, Maine, Family Suffering Massive Loss is This Wednesday

It's truly something no parent should ever have to experience. Especially with a child who is so young and so innocent with their whole life ahead of them.

Last month, heartbreaking news dropped about a family in Brunswick, Maine, who lost their baby daughter, Aria, to a rare form of cancer.

JMML Leukemia

Back in January, Aria was diagnosed with JMML leukemia. According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), JMML leukemia usually develops in children under the age of 4 and is a rare form of blood cancer. Basically, a specific, immature white blood cell grows at an uncontrollable rate and pushes healthy cells out of the bone marrow.

After Aria's diagnosis, according to a post on the Pat's Pizza Brunswick Instagram page, she was transported to Boston Children's Hospital at the beginning of this month.

Unfortunately and heartbreakingly, Aria passed on Sunday, February 12. It's something no parent should ever have to experience, and now on top of trying to grieve and mourn the loss of their adorable nugget of a daughter, Aria's parents are now also left with medical and funeral expenses.

Pat's Pizza in Brunswick, Maine

Enter Pat's in Brunswick, who have selflessly decided to hold an event this week -- Wednesday, March 8, from 5p to when they close down for the night -- to help raise funds to give Aria's parents relief with all their expenses.

There will be live music from local musician Adam Babcock, a 50/50 as well as numerous raffle prizes. All money donated along with a proceed of the night's profits will go directly to Aria's mother Chelsea, who has a connection to two women named Melissa who manage/work at Pat's.

Some of the raffle prizes include tickets to see Bryan Adams with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday, June 10; tickets to see Charlie Puth at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion (formerly Meadowbrook) in Gilford, NH on Wednesday, June 7; and The Kid LAROI at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Saturday, March 25, possibly with meet and greet passes as well.

Honestly, this is bigger than a local business trying to get customers in the door for the sake of just making money. This is about showing exactly what the Maine heart, soul, and spirit is all about -- it's about the community getting together for a few hours one night this week to show love and do good to people who clearly need and deserve it.

And of course, thoughts, prayers, positive vibes, and everything else possible to Aria's parents and family. The fact that they not only have to but also somehow find the strength to power through is nothing short of amazing.
