Popham Beach State Park To Feature New Boardwalk This Summer
Maine's stunning coastline and incredible beaches have always been a draw for people who call the state home as well as summertime tourists. One of the most popular state parks year after year is Popham Beach. Akin to Crescent Beach State Park, Popham Beach offers a sprawling beach with plenty of space for families to spread out and enjoy a day by the ocean. But there's also long been a gripe about Popham Beach. The distance from the parking lot to the ocean and just how difficult it can be for individuals and families to get their "spot". Help has officially arrived.
Shared on Facebook by Allison Hepler, the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands has installed 500 feet worth of boardwalk that should help all visitors with their route to the beach. This should help guests who may been in wheelchairs, families visiting with smaller children or those that have packed lunches in bulky coolers alleviate some stress before they even get to the pristine views. It's an almost certainty that this boardwalk will be universally welcomed by park goers.

Hepler mentions in the comments of her post that all the materials used to put together the boardwalk were repurposed from other places within Popham Beach. Because they were working on a tight budget and wanted to make sure this was ready for another busy season, the staff installed the boardwalk themselves.

If you've never visited Popham Beach State Park, mark it down on your summer bucket list. It's truly one of Maine's best beaches and this lengthy boardwalk will only enhance the experience. Pull up a chair, catch some rays and maybe even spot a superyacht in the distance.
