It's easy to get lost in watching someone else search for their dream home. One of the longest running and most popular series on HGTV is House Hunters. In fact, the show was so popular, a spinoff called House Hunters International was created. Rarely are people from Maine featured on the either show, especially the International version. But that changed on Tuesday night as a woman's journey to move from Portland, Maine, to Amsterdam, Budapest, was featured.

Shared on Facebook by Melissa Rand, the former Portland resident decided to pack up her life and move overseas after a visit to Amsterdam as a tourist. But there was more to her story than the magic of television portrayed. Rand detailed the "real" story behind her move to Amsterdam in a follow-up post on social media.

The episode itself follows Melissa's tour of three different apartments in Amsterdam. The first apartment is in the heart of the downtown, but was also hundreds of dollars over her budget. The second apartment was further away with the primary access to the city via ferry, but it was on budget. The third apartment sat right on a canal, but was a downgrade in size and still over budget.

Melissa faced a difficult decision based on price, but also her need to be in the city for her matchmaking business. Melissa was also hopeful to make a match for herself during her time in Amsterdam. Without giving away her decision, let's just say she decided to embrace a little taste of home in Portland.
