Speculation began about what was coming to Windham back in November when the leased sign went up on the former Windham Friendly's restaurant that closed a year ago. In February, signs for Portland Pie Company went up on the now gray painted building and this past week, they opened for business.

Of course when Portland Pie Company made plans to open in Windham, they didn't expect the world to change like it has since the COIVD-19 pandemic began.

The new location on Route 302 near the Windham Mall has outdoor seating at picnic tables with umbrellas located on what was formerly a small parking lot in front of the building. There's still plenty of parking on the side of the building facing the mall.

Since June 17, both indoor and outdoor dining has been allowed in Cumberland County, so Portland Pie will be able to utilize both options in Windham, but when you get a look at that outside seating area, you'll probably want to enjoy your beer a pie out there on a nice summer day.

The new Portland Pie Company in Windham is open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday's and Saturday's until 9.
