There is just something about a night parade and one I look forward to every year is Rockland's Festival of Lights Parade.

At it's core it is a celebration of the Winter Solstice and the holiday season. Last year due to Covid the Festival of Lights was turned off, but this year, things are back!

Mark it on the calendar, put a sticky note on your day, put it in your phone....just be there.

Everything gets kicked off at 8am when Santa will arrive at Rockland Harbor via Coast Guard Boat, cause, well, those guys have a direct line and interest in Santa getting here safe.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:15am that will officially open Maine Street Rockland to the Holiday Shopping season, and if you haven't shopped here, you're missing out on some very cool, local businesses, with one of a kind gifts, for those on your list that are hard to buy for...you looking at me?!?!

Fast forward to later in the day, say 5pm and that is when the festival of Lights Parade kicks off, all along Maine Street in Rockland, pssst...here's a pro tip, score some hot chocolate, or a warm apple cider to help take the chill off before you find a spot to enjoy the fun, unique, night time parade!

Also, if you would like to be in the parade as a float, this year, they are waiving all entry fees, so everyone can participate, and it is slated to be bigger and better than ever! Not to mention, how often do you get to witness a huge Christmas Tree made of Lit Lobster Traps?!? Only in Rockland, Maine.
