See The Devastation That Struck Rockland Harbor During The Storm
When mother nature comes ah knocking...there's nowhere to hide.
Rockland Harbor experienced winds close to 50 MPH in this Nor'Easter that slammed the eastern coast over night and in into today.
All around Rockland Harbor you could see the destruction as several boat broke free from their moorings and were set adrift, several crashing on the jagged rocks that surround the harbor.
For the end of October there were more boats than in past years taking up residence in Rockland Harbor, perhaps it was the milder October that brought in sail boats that most likely sailed along the coast to view the beautiful foliage.
It wasn't just pleasure boaters that were caught by surprise, a few commercial lobster boats were also victim to the powerful winds that had seas slamming against the rocks all night and into the early morning hours of today.
Winds are expected to die down later this afternoon. Once the winds subside, the clean-up will begin with several people being heartbroken by the destruction.
Thank you to Celia Crie Brown for providing these amazing photographs that highlight just how powerful these storms can be.
