Often times in the restaurant business, when one door closes, another one opens.

That will be the case in Westbrook, Maine, where one small locally-owned restaurant has officially closed its doors and will be replaced by another small locally-owned restaurant hoping to make its mark.

Sumo Sushi and Grill Coming to Westbrook, Maine

Shared on social media, a new Asian restaurant plans to open at 57 Bridge Street in Westbrook, Maine.

The restaurant promises to have a diverse menu of offerings. Sumo plans to bring another option for fresh sushi to the city. They'll also offer up poke bowls for those that work and live in downtown Westbrook.

Sumo also will have an extensive menu of other options like noodle bowls, fried rice as well as hibachi favorites.

Sumo Sushi and Grill Will Replace Tacos La Poblanita

Sumo Sushi and Grill will take over the space left behind by Mexican restaurant Tacos La Poblanita. The Maine Mall staple had opened in Westbrook in 2023 but decided to close their Bridge Street location a few months ago to focus on food truck business.

Tacos La Poblanita's Maine Mall location continues to operate with regular hours.

Sumo Sushi and Grill have not announced a grand opening date but are hopeful to open in September.
