Portland Has The Highest Annual Average Temperature in Southern Maine
Based on weather data collected from 1991 through 2020 by the U.S. Centers for National Weather Information, Portland is the warmest city in southern Maine by average annual temperature.
Portland averages a temperature of 56 degrees year-round. The ocean actually serves to keep Portland warmer in the winter than other places in the state.
Waterville Has the Highest Annual Average Temperature in Central Maine
The weather data for central Maine is interesting. Waterville has the highest average annual high temperature in the region, at 56 degrees year-round.
But Lewiston offers residents the least amount of volatility. Lewiston's annual average high temperature is 55 degrees and its annual average low temperature is only 38 degrees.
Bar Harbor Has the Highest Average Annual Temperature in Coastal Maine
Just like Portland, the ocean effect keeps Bar Harbor relatively mild year-round. Weather data says that Bar Harbor and Portland share the exact same annual average high temperature of 56 degrees.
The two spots in Maine also share the same exact annual average low temperature at 39 degrees.
Presque Isle Has the Highest Average Annual Temperature in Northern Maine
Everyone who lives in Maine knows that the northern part of the state typically runs colder. But how much colder?
Data suggests not as much as you might believe. Presque Isle has the highest annual average high temperature in the region at 52 degrees.
