There has been a lot of skepticism about the new Ghostbusters. Would Paul Feig and his new cast pull it off? Would they make something worthy of the original? Would angry fanboys lose their minds before the movie came out? There was a lot of anxiety. But it’s hard to ignore an endorsement like the one the new Ghostbusters got on Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the original Ghostbusters.

“This is a tough movie to pull off,” said Bill Murray. “You’ll delight in the film.”

That quote comes in the video below, after Kimmel asked Murray why, after all the years of Ghostbusters sequels that he resisted and didn’t want to participate in, did he decide to sign on to be a part of Feig’s film. “It was only because,” Murray explained, “I knew these girls were funny.”

The subject of fans angry about female Ghostbusters came up during a different part of the show:

In this next clip, the original Ghostbusters, Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts, were joined lived via internet magic by fans with outrageous Ghostbusters tattoos from around the world. I have to tell you, I found the one of the giant Harold Ramis face on the upper thigh kind of alarming. Also, you have to watch to the end of the clip to see Murray reveal his own tattoo, which is a brilliant punchline to the whole segment.

In this clip, Dan Aykoyd talks about how they shot the first Ghostbusters all over New York City, often without permission or permits:

And of course what Ghostbusters reunion would be complete without the Ghostbusters theme song, sung by Ray Parker Jr.? This clip, the episode, and really Feig’s entire new movie is justified just by the sight of Bill Murray so enjoying Parker scream “Ghostbusters!”

The guy loves the Ghostbusters song! Look at him go!

See people? Busting is supposed to make you feel good. Somewhere along the way, we lost sight of that. It’s great to have it back. Ghostbusters opens in theaters on July 15.
