Wes Scantlin Vows New Puddle of Mudd Album ‘Coming Soon’
It's been nearly a decade since Puddle of Mudd last released an album stocked with new material and that's about to change according to frontman Wes Scantlin, who vows a new record will be here soon.
In a brief chat with 100.5 The KATT (video below) before a show at the Diamand Ballroom in Oklahoma, Scantlin confirmed the news, stating, "We're coming out with a new record and it's really badass. We worked our butt off on it, and I can't wait to get it out. Coming soon." When pressed to offer fans any more information about the album, the singer replied, "It's just a bunch of great songs, man — heartfelt and true to Puddle of Mudd form."
After years of battling legal troubles regarding various arrests as well as canceled and abbreviated shows stemming from confrontation onstage, Scantlin entered rehab. A post on the Puddle of Mudd Facebook page in January earlier this year revealed he was doing "very well" and that the band would hit the road soon. A tour with Saliva and Tantric then took place from early August to early September, one month after Scantlin revealed he had been sober for 11 months.
Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love and Hate, Puddle of Mudd's last full length effort containing original material, was released in 2009. Since, the alt-grunge band has issued a covers album, re(disc)overed in 2011, and a standalone single, "Piece of the Action" in 2014.
