Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach is a summertime staple for tourists and local beachgoers looking for a reprieve from the sand and salty ocean waves. The arcade is bright and stimulating with it's flashing lights and sounds while the rides outside delight guests of any age.

A favorite attraction at Palace Playland is (or was) the vintage Galaxy roller coaster. The coaster has been around for nearly two decades, but in September it gave it's last ride. According to WCSH 6, the classic coaster will be replaced with an Italian roller coaster called The Sea Viper. It's part of a $4 Million expansion at Palace Playland.

Although demolition of the original Galaxy coaster hasn't fully begun, the parking lot next door has been cleared, presumably for the new attraction.

Are you excited to try out the new roller coaster at Palace Playland?
