What the actual what?

Okay, this is stupid. First, let's figure out how Yelp came up with this ridiculous list of the top 100 restaurants for 2022.

...we first reached out to Yelpers for their favorite dining spots. Then, we ranked each by a total number of submissions, ratings, reviews, and geographic representation, among other factors.

I don't get it. Are Maine restaurants not reviewed by Yelp? Let's find out together. A very popular affordable delicious iconic Maine restaurant is Becky's in Portland. Let's see if there are any reviews on Yelp. Why yes there are. The very first review is 5 friggin' stars from Christine T out of Fairfax, Virginia. She writes:

So I am not one to be very hyped over breakfast food... (sorry, don't hate me here). But let me tell you... Becky's Diner? 110% worth it.

Lobster eggs Benedict?! I mean, cmon.

The service here was great - our waitress was very friendly.

Would recommend coming early to beat the crowd... otherwise, the wait can be a tad aggressive.

Trust me, Maine is mentioned in COUNTLESS articles nationally about what a 'foodie' state we are. In particular, Portland is a destination city based solely on the number of amazing award-winning restaurants there are! The OTHER Portland is mentioned in the Yelp list of top 100 restaurants for 2022. In fact, Portland, Oregon had FOUR restaurants that made this Yelp list. Four?

Maine chefs are constantly James Beard award nominees and many have taken home that prestigious food award. Think of it as the Oscars for chefs, or the Super Bowl of cooking awards.

You disappoint me Yelp...

LOOK: Food history from the year you were born

From product innovations to major recalls, Stacker researched what happened in food history every year since 1921, according to news and government sources.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
