You Can Really See Portland From Here
Tuesday, I put up a couple photos of Portland--specifically the waterfront, and a bit of signage from somewhere, asking if you could identify where I was standing when I took the pictures. It didn't take long at all to get the correct answer.
Most everybody who answered knew I took the pix from South Portland. Two people spelled "Bingo" on this one. Deni Holsinger Tirrell was the first to identify the spot at Thomas Knight Park, under the Casco Bay Bridge. Micha Smith was even more specific: he said the view of the Portland waterfront--with the Nova Star Ferry in its berth at Ocean Gateway--is over the top of the tourist binocular thing. The Park is on the edge of Knightville in South Portland...a really nice section of the coast, quiet, off the beaten path, full of local shops and underused, according to the Forcaster article you can link over to.
Get out there and explore--there's still a lot of summer to come, and with the weather as good as it has been, you'll be able to explore Portland al fresco: shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops.
Have a superb weekend, and we'll get back out on our Portland Quest next Tuesday.
