18 Years Ago Today, Green Day Made a Huge Mess at the Radio Station and Then Played in Lewiston [PICS]
On this day in 1998, Green Day played what was then the Central Maine Civic Center (now Colisee) in Lewiston. I had always heard stories about that infamous afternoon they stopped by the radio station. I recently caught up with a few people that were there that day including former morning guy here at CYY, Wildman Zach. He recalls a Cheese Doodle war in our conference room between the band, contest winners and staff. As you can see here, Tre Cool decided to walk on our table.
It was the Nimrod tour. Reprise Records Rep and good friend of CYY, Andrew Govatsos, was there and he had brought a stack of Nimrod stickers with him. The band took most of them and slapped them on the walls all through the station and the building here at One City Center.
