Got a lil bit more for 2014? We're into the New Year, but being on vaca til today, I still wanted to offer up a video medley of killer stuff that I was into last year you might like.

BOB MOULD (Husker Du and Sugar AND a great solo career... this guys amazing! Video is pretty funny)

PLAGUE VENDOR (love punkish, wild, garage stuff like this. Record was pretty cool)

CHEAP GIRLS (Great rock n roll. Like Warren Zevon fronting the Hold Steady)

JUNGLE (English cats meet 70's street heavy soul like Curtis Mayfield)

SELF (great pop tune and funny video)

THE BOHICAS (cool new band with doing great herky/jerky alternative new wave)

AGAINST ME! (love the record, love the band even more, loved their show in town and love that they included a bit of my interview from Spinout with Laura Jane Grace into her documentary show. Here's a great live version of True Trans Sool Rebel AND the portion of Laura's show featuring the Spinout bit. The series is great, but if you're time pressed, scoot ahead to about 5min and you'll catch it... Spinal Tapishly with our call letters displayed wrong, but what can you do!)

ANIMALS AS LEADERS (Precision metal. Solid)

BENJAMIN BOOKER (Cool, cool rockin' stuff. He was a head turner @ Lolapalooza)

RESTORATIONS (Their third LP is their best in my book. Great band)

KILLER BE KILLED (features the three lead singers from Soulfy/Sepultura, Mastodon and Dillinger Escape Plan and a former drummer from the Mars Volta. This records solid)

THE LEES OF MEMORY (features Brandon and John from Superdrag. Think Superdrag, but more shoegazing and with a WALL of sound).

INTERPOL (This should have been a big song this year. It's TOO damn good. I saw them in CHI and they were fantastic. Awesome to see Brandon from Secret Machines still on keys for these guys. He's a keeper)

PANAMA WEDDING (One of my fav singles of the year. They're NYC based, but the guitarist is from right around here)

THE HORRORS (I've followed these guys over the years and they've dialed into a different type of dark sound with this new album. Like what you hear? Check out their cool 2014 record called, Luminous. The stuff prior was a bit more "rockin", for them, so to speak)

ST. VINCENT (This gal is talented and her record from 2014 was maybe her best. She's def on the up and up each record and it's much deserved. Looking for a Portland return.)

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 (Glad they came back. Bitchin' duo)

SKATERS (Their album "Manhattan" was one of my favorite albums of the year. Think the Strokes, but not as mopey. More of a bite. More firey.)

OFF! (3rd record in about as many years. I LOVE LOVE this band. Seen them a couple times. This past year again, blew me away. So raw, so loud, so damn good! Features members of Black Flag, Rocket from the Crypt, Redd Kross, Burning Brides. They are one of the few bands to me that could save us all)

KGFREEZE (I don't usually include local stuff in my lists cause I'm so close to it and I never really go for favorites. Everyone is working too hard. BUT this tune was my favorite local track of 2014. His pop side has come out more with KGFREEZE than ever before and that's probably a good thing cause he does it well. I miss the wild days of Kyle in Cosades, but this jam is STUPID good and weird enough. Plus his Bulldog Winston is in the video. Bonus awesome!)

JOHNNY MARR (Amazing that 30 years AFTER the Smiths, he's still writing stuff this great. 2nd solo record in 2 years, equally as awesome)

VIOLENT SOHO (Here's a few from possibly my favorite album of the year, Hungry Ghost. Grungy, punkish, pissy, loud slackers. I love it. These guys from New Zealand were on CYY a few year's back with a cool tune called, "Jesus Stole My Girlfriend")

FUTURE ISLANDS (How can we forget the most popular live music performance of the year! Their show at Port City was terrific. Sold out too if I remember correctly. They've put in the years for sure. For those who love 80's synth, this was your triumph in 2014!

KITTEN (This song is kick ass. The video is a bore to me, but I added it so you can here the song big and loud. I added a great live performance too from a radio show. As you can see she's a heck of a performer and... well, pretty captivating. That might be the word. Her moves are great yes, but watch her climb the light tower barefoot and jump down)

CAGE THE ELEPHANT (Melaphobia came out in '13, but I saw them four times this year as they supported the album. This is the coolest though. I was at this show standing next to the guy filming this. So sound & vision could be better, but this is exactly how I saw it. They need to make this a single. Criminal it's not. People LOVE this tune. Great opener)
