The Boston Red Sox were able to avoid a four game sweep at the hands of the Chicago White Sox with a come-from-behind 8-7 win in 10 innings on Thursday.

The Sox had some clutch hitting in the tenth inning by Xander Bogaerts who drove in Mookie Betts to give Boston the victory.  Boston battled back and forth with the White Sox and erupted for four runs in the sixth inning to take the 5-2 lead.  Rick Porcello would start the next half inning before being relieved by Tommy Layne who combined to give up the lead in the seventh with three runs put across by the White Sox.  Boston would chip away at the deficit with a lone run in both the seventh and eighth to send the game into extra innings before Bogaerts' heroics.

Craig Kimbrel earned the win in relief win, pitching two shutout innings.  Betts, Bogaerts, Hanley Ramirez, and Dustin Pedroia each had two hits in the game, while the second baseman led the way with two RBIs.

With the victory the Red Sox move to 40-32 on the season and pulled withing 1.5 games of the idle Baltimore Orioles in the AL East.  Boston will begin three game road series with the Texas Rangers starting tomorrow at 8 p.m.  David Price gets the start for the Sox against Nick Martinez.
