Is this more proof that people don't listen to lyrics or is Benny Mardones' powerful voice singing an infectious pop ballad enough to get people to let it slide? The song peaked at #11 in 1980 and then became hit again in 1989 and reached #23.

The opening line of the song by then 33 year old Benny states, "She's just 16 years old, leave her alone, they say". To summarize what's going on here lyrically, a much older man is infatuated with a 16 year old girl, who's father will not let them see each other. The video itself is even creepier as you see Mardones then stand outside the girls bedroom after he's denied entrance into their home.

Lyrics and your personal music taste aside, Mardones' voice is big and the song had everything it needed to become a big hit for its time. The question is, would the content of the song fly in 2016? What are your thoughts?  Let us know on our Facebook page.
