Lost Markathon Pics & Final Thoughts

Before we say goodbye to this years Markathon for once and all; I thought I'd share some final thoughts and pics from my phone and the studio camera to help leave an extra lasting impression....

DAY ONE... I felt just ok to be honest. I was a little clogged up in the head and a bit tired, but spirit was at 1000% and there was no turning back at that point!

THE CYY SURFBOARD... we were lucky to have Ryan and Brett from Blackpoint Surf Shop in Scarborough reach out. They really wanted to help Markathon this year, so they offered to make a CYY surfboard for us to auction off. Totally awesome!  

  DANIELLE WAUGH of WCSH 6... Awesome for Danielle to stop by and film some Markathon coverage for the 6 Morning News. Ok thats not her Manilow request by the way! She was making it for Sharon back at the news desk. Danielle says no to Manilow. Well, she did say yes to the Spice Girls though which was... well... it was Markathon so hey, its all good! Yay! (Scary Spice is still crazy hot so whatevs)   

 SPOSE... Wells Maine's most famous person stopped by his worldwide homebase to hang out for a bit and auction off his autographed catalog and new book to help raise money. We also announced that Spose would be joining me on Fridays starting in the new year on the CYY Morning Show..Show. Awesome awesome.

 THE FOGCUTTERS... Well 7 of them stopped by to play a little Cuban jazz jam. Safe to say thats prob the most instruments thats ever been in the CYY studio. Sounded so great too. Those cats are talented and cool. Wish they other 12 would have joined us!

 MY SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS... the trick to the week for me is not being very comfortable when sleeping. That way when its time to get up, I'm getting up. None of this "i'm gonna sleep just a little more" crap. With that set up, I'm up with no delay! Only sleeping 3 hours a night doesn't allow for any true sleep depth just power naps. So this get up right here was just perfect for a quick time out each night from 3-6am.

 COMEDIAN BOB MARLEY... Bob stops by Markathon every year. Its always great cause its a much needed laugh for me and a break from yapping. Bob's an ace for not only stopping by and cracking everyone up, but he and the Mrs. donate wicked haahd every year to Markathon. Cheers Bobby! You're a good dude bub!

 MY FRIEND HUNTER... Hunter is a big CYY fan and a huge fan of Markathon. His whole family is really. He looks forward to it each year cause he likes to give back. This year he told his folks he didn't want any gifts for Christmas, but wanted to donate to Markathon for kids who don't have the people anymore that used to give them gifts. True meaning of Christmas... true CYY... Hunter's visit was a big moment that week and the door is always open to him here at WCYY! Hunter's donation was $70!!

 THE FINAL SHOT, DAY 5... couple hours after things died down I went back to the scene to gather my stuff and EMPTY THE TRASH. It was nice and quiet and allowed me to reflect for a minute on how great the listeners were and how awesome I feel doing that week for the Center. I thought of how many families will feel just a little bit better because of our (yours and mine) work together that week. There is hope because there is CYY and kindhearted listeners. Thats a bit of fantastic. There was also the "Thong Song" and ABBA and N'SYNC and bad country music because of you all too, but I don't want to turn this into a negative thing or anything really!!
