According to USA Today, a panel of experts hand picked the 20 nominees and then left the rankings to ski and snowboard enthusiasts all around the country. I was happy to see my hometown of North Conway ranked so high...not surprised though.

USA Today had the following to say about the #2 Best Ski Town, as voted on by 10 Best Readers.

"Nestled within the scenic White Mountains of New Hampshire, North Conway sits within a half-hour drive of more than a dozen alpine and Nordic ski resorts. Visitors off the slopes can explore the town’s pastel-hued Victorian architecture oozing New England charm. The Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center makes for an excellent rest-day diversion."

Growing up in the Mount Washington Valley and having a number of mountain to ski within a 30-40 minute drive was pretty cool! Each mountain is unique and offering trails for all types of skiers and snowboarders.

I remember as a kid having Jr. Ski Program. This is where students were dismissed early from school on Monday's to go skiing. Yes envious readers, we were dismissed from school to go skiing. It was pretty cool, it certainly made Monday's suck way less. The chosen mountain was Cranmore, which was the view from my backyard and less than a 10 minute walk through the woods.

Oh hey, twilight skiing!
