Did you know Portland hosts one of the oldest and coolest road races in the US? True, and it's happening this Sunday! It's the 87th Boys and Girls Club Patriots Day 5 Miler This fantastic race is put on by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine Alumni Association, and it truly is one of the coolest races around. Why? Well, for one it's not a 5K...it's 5 MILES, which is kind of a rarity. Then there's the fact that you get to run around Portland. Through the city, around Baxter Boulevard, up 295 and back in to town. Sweet.

We invite you to run this special and historic race because it's also for one of the best causes around-The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine.  Be part of something historic...this is the oldest race in Maine, and the third oldest in New England- behind the Boston Marathon and Lexington 5-miler.

It's a great way to kick off YOUR race season....even if you just run for fun like me. Oh, and by the way-it's much cheaper than many of the races you'll enter this year- 20 bucks if you sign up this week and $25 on Race Day...which is this Sunday.
