High stress. Low Pay. Perhaps it's just the party atmosphere. Here are the 5 jobs that are most likely going to lead to some increased alcohol consumption.

According to some new data studied by samhsa.gov, there are 5 particular careers that have seen a link to increased drinking and loss of productivity. Here they are:

1. Mining 18% of employees drink excessively.

(JD's Take: SHOCKER. Spending 12 hours a day in a murky, dark cave hammering away for precious items that may or may not even exist in that cave would lead me to drink excessively to.)

2. Construction 17% of employees drink excessively.

(JD's Take: I'm one of those guys that believes if on any day, at any moment, you could get crushed by a load of gravel or a falling steel beam, you deserve a cold beer or seven.)

3. Hotels/Restaurants  13% of employees drink excessively.

(JD's Take: I feel like some people in this industry may have been fibbing when they were studied. Most people in this industry that I know personally can outdrink me all 7 days of the week. Easily.)

4. Arts/Entertainment 12% of employees drink excessively.

(JD's Take: This hits close to home. Radio is lumped in here and let's just say this is another number that seems a little low to me. If you need another reason to believe me, I have an entire fridge at my house devoted to beer, wine and alcohol. Seriously.)

5. Utilities  11% of employees drink excessively.

(JD's Take: This one is interesting. I'd like to assume that this is just made up of 85% cable company employees and not people who are fixing your gas lines or repairing the electrical lines. Yeah, cable company employees.)

There's even more jobs listed here in this Washington Post article. Oh, and it's not limited to just drinking, you can check out drug use stats as well. Happy thirsty monday! (that's what "the kids" are saying these days right?)
