A decade gone by...already? I was always told the older you get, the quicker the time goes by....it's true. A friend of mine and I were at a Killers concert in Boston. They played with a band called Secret Machines for one of those MTV $2 Bill shows at a venue called The Roxy. I remember getting a copy of American Idiot a week before it's release at the show from my Warner Brothers record rep friend, Andrew. I was with my buddy Billy from the local band Even All Out. Remember them?? Anyways, we were both so excited to listen to it after all the hype. We cranked it the whole way home.

It received mixed reviews, both raving and trashing. The trashing came mostly from the old school Green Day fans that complained that they sold out.  I think it takes a lot for a band to 'sell out.' If a band puts their heart and soul into a record that they're proud of, who are we to say it sucks? We're surely not forced to listen to it, or even say we like it. On a personal level, I think it's one of the best albums to be released in the 2000's.

Here's a few tracks from the rock opera that turns a decade old today!
