During a pre-Grammys party last night (Feb. 14), Beck teamed up with former Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear to pay tribute to the late David Bowie.

The one-off supergroup performed at Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy gala. For the occasion, they covered Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World,” a song Nirvana also played for MTV Unplugged in New York 20-plus years ago.

The 2016 Grammys will air tonight at 8PM EST on CBS. Alabama Shakes, Björk, My Morning Jacket, Tame Impala and Wilco are up for Best Alternative Music Album. Alabama Shakes and Kendrick Lamar are two of the artists nominated for Album of the Year. Last year, that honor went to Beck for 2014’s Morning Phase. (He also won Best Rock Album.)

While David Bowie and Nirvana were both nominated several times, they only ever took home one Grammy award during their careers. Bowie won Best Video, Short Form for 1984's "Jazzin' for Blue Jean" for his song "Blue Jean." Bowie was also awarded the Grammys' Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Nirvana took home Best Alternative Music Performance in 1996 for Unplugged in New York.
