A Brooklyn, N.Y., park renamed in honor of Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys has been defaced in the name of President-elect Donald Trump. Two swastikas and the words “Go Trump” were found on the playground.

As discovered by Billboard, a filmmaker named Karen Wang posted a picture of the damage on Twitter yesterday (Nov. 18) with the message, “.@beastieboys Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn Heights was left defaced with ugly symbols of hate today. This cannot be the new normal!”

After receiving numerous verbal attacks in response to her tweet, Wang wrote earlier this morning, “Sigh. Well. Given the turmoil and toxicity of my Twitter feed in the last 14 hours, I'm off to go eat dim sum and watch cat videos. Forever.”

NME is reporting that the park will be the site of an "anti-hate rally" tomorrow beginning at 11:30AM Eastern. This is being organized by State Senator Daniel Squadron, Congresswoman Nydia Velásquez and other elected and unelected community leaders.

Yauch, who, like the other Beastie Boys, was Jewish, died on May 4, 2012 at the age of 47 after a three-year battle with cancer. Less than three weeks after his death, a campaign to rename a park in his honor was launched. A year later, Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn Heights, where he played as a child and his father taught him to ride a bike, was christened Adam Yauch Park. In the dedication, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz quoted the Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic” by calling Yauch “a talented artist who helped to change the face of music and, perhaps even more importantly, as an always socially conscious, genuinely good person—‘Too sweet to be sour, too nice to be mean.’”
