Brunswick Staple Fat Boy Drive-In Sets Reopening Date
There is no doubt that Fat Boy Drive-In, on Bath Road in Brunswick, is a staple of summer in Maine. The establishment, which first opened in 1955, has served burgers, fries, fried chicken, fried seafood, and frappes to millions of Mainers (and visitors). Apparently, they even offer alcoholic beverages.
Many people may not realize that the restaurant was open throughout most of the winter. After closing in the fall, the opened back up in December, and remained open through February. As pandemic-weary Mainers are looking for places that offer take-out and outdoor dining, it just makes sense.
They did close for a "winter break" a few weeks ago, but have set a new reopening date.
According to their Facebook page, they plan to reopen THIS THURSDAY (March 25th).
Mike Jerome, who purchased the business in May of 2020, has been making a lot of upgrades to the heritage establishment, including offering cashless payment options, by offering online ordering, and by catering to dietary restrictions. As a longtime part of the community, they also plan to hold fundraisers.
