By now, you've likely heard that the end is near for the Farmers' Almanac based out of Lewiston, Maine.

The difficult decision to cease operations for the more than 200-year-old publication was announced in early-November leaving many people throughout Maine truly shocked.

The Farmers' Almanac was a staple in the state for many things. From random tips and facts to fishing and gardening calendars.

The bread and butter for the Farmers' Almanac always seemed to be their long range forecasts.

With that in mind, here's a closer look at the final Farmers' Almanac winter forecast for Maine.

The Farmers' Almanac is calling for a snowier winter than the National Weather Service prediction. The Farmers' Almanac calls for frequent snowstorms throughout December, January and February which should be music to the ears of skiers and snowboarders.

Farmers' Almanac Also Predicts Two Major Cold Snaps For The Coming Winter

Most people throughout Maine can live with snowstorms but it's often the extended cold snaps that leave people angry.

The Farmers' Almanac believes two of those lengthy cold snaps are in the cards for Maine this winter.

The first will arrive in mid-January with potential below-zero overnight temperatures for multiple days.

The second will arrive in mid-February and thankfully is predicted to be less brutal than the January cold spell.

Goodbye to the Farmers' Almanac

While the Farmers' Almanac winter forecasts haven't always been totally accurate, they've been a good guideline of expectations.

Thanks for all of the memories.
