It's bear season. Black bears are coming out of hibernation, and they're hungry. The Gorham, Maine Police Department recently posted a warning on its Facebook page (below), reminding residents that bears are most active between April 1st and November 1st, and they are looking for "easily accessible food." This might include stuff they can find in the garbage, pet food, etc., so it's best to lock up trash cans, and bring other things inside.

Apparently, a bear was spotted in the area of Lawn and Sunset Avenues in Gorham, according to the Facebook post.

The most important part of the police's reminder is to stay away from the bears; call them instead of trying to take care of the problem yourself. The non-emergency number to call is (207) 839-5581.
