Nobody Wants to Buy Grace Restaurant in Portland, Maine
Portland, Maine, has been at the center of a culinary awakening in the state. People have visited from across the globe over the last 15 years or so to try and discover the restaurants throughout the city.
For about a decade, one of the restaurants that was on everyone's "list" was Grace. The food and service at Grace was phenomenal but the real draw was that the restaurant operated in a converted church that still featured stained glass, pews and more from its past life.
In 2018, Grace stopped being a restaurant and pivoted into becoming an events center for weddings, parties and corporate gatherings. Throughout that time, the old church property was for sale.
But nobody wanted to buy Grace. Not at the price point it was being offered at. But things do change.

What Might Be Next For The Former Grace Restaurant in Portland, Maine
If the property changes hands following the auction on November 13, it will be interesting to see what the property becomes.
It's possible the old church returns as a restaurant or events center. But the property designation would allow it to be converted to residential use if the next owner chooses to do so.
15 Chestnut Street is listed in the National Register of Historic Places so guidelines would need to be followed.
But something is coming. Sooner or later.
